Christmas Lantern will teach about transparency, translucency and opacity, and how filters can be used. We will apply these effects cutting out shapes and figures from paper, and using these to make a Christmas lantern. We will also look at a few contemporary artists and how they use colour and light in their work (e.g. Olafur Eliasson and Dan Flavin). The workshop will also serve as an introduction to Workshop Four, Iridescence (January 2017).

Mayfair tour : 10th,11th and 12th November
I have been wanting to give this tour for a long time – of some of the best contemporary art in London! We will start at Hauser and Wirth (23 Savile Row, W1S 2ET) with installations by Lygia Pape and Mike Kelley. After that we’ll walk to Neo Rauch at David Zwirner, Michael Benson at Flowers Gallery, and a group show at Gazelli Art House. Then we’ll cross Piccadilly to the new premises of Skarstedt (Cindy Sherman and David Salle). We’ll end our tour at the White Cube (Magnus Plessen). As usual, either the curators or I will talk you through the work as we go along. It should take us about an hour and a half (from 10.30 am to 12.00 pm). Please book here: email@example.com
